Project description:
The project aimed to follow Messaris’ attention-grabbing techniques. The specific techniques used for this illustration were violating reality and visual metaphor. The illustration took about 16 hours to complete. Digital drawing is still a craft I am trying to improve on to be more efficient for future projects. It was a problem to overcome, but I was helped by learning more techniques by using the tools in the software. The violating reality of the visual is the melting eyeballs. It is not something you would naturally see in reality. The concept came from something I deal with myself when trying to sleep. One’s phone can become an addiction, and most aren’t able to admit it. The visual metaphor is the eyes resting on the pillow because they are tired from staying up late at night. It is something that a lot of people deal with, especially these days of media. Sometimes, a little reminder is helpful to get more sleep.
